On August 19, Disney Channel held a special event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of High School Musical in Japan.
One of the main reasons for this was the recent movement of the fans in the country celebrating the movie legacy and sharing stories. (The First Times JP).
Here's the event message the fans received entering the space:

The joy of singing and dancing, the wonderfulness of living freely and being true to yourself, the importance of friendship, the dream of high school life, the thrill of love, the courage to believe in your dreams...
Those memories from back then are precious "treasures" that will surely support you throughout your life, something you can only realize now that you're an adult.
On this special 20th anniversary milestone, Disney Channel wanted to create a place where people could once again discover such "treasures."
"I want the rest of my life to feel just like a High School Musical!"
And we hope this event becomes a lifelong treasure for you! We're All In This Together!
Come on, let's have some fun with the Wildcats.
At the event there was four photo stages with different concepts inspired by the movie. First space was the entrance with the facade of East High, the school name in the same plaque that was used in the movie and the two banner with the Wildcats mottos "Strength" and "Respect" hung on the sides. After getting inside the room, the whole space was decorated with red and white colours and banners with the characters. Photo spaces with Sharpay Evans clothes and the archival outfits used by Ashley Tisdale were on display.
The next space was dedicated to Gabriella and was the class room from High School Musical 2 with the gigant clock and "School's Out" board from "What Time is It".
Banners with school style were also added to the entrance as a photo op to the fans
Archival outfits from Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens were on display at Ryan's space.
On Taylor's memory board, there was photos from the three movies, the spin off and the series.
Games and a white board also were available to the public of the event.
To finish the celebration, a special performance of the songs "What Time is It" and "We're All In This Together" with cheerleaders took place at the main stage of the event.
A store with merchandise also were available to the public with exclusive items for the japanese market. Plaza's and Mickey And Friends collections were available, including some new items and event only such the vending machine with the characters label.
